This year my friends, family and I have decided that we will not be exchanging any presents. There’s been too many years of gift giving, where we give just for the sake of having something to open, and so it doesn’t look so bare under the tree.
No one needs any socks or underwear, or a pair of slippers. And while every women loves a bottle of wine, or a gift card to Victoria Secret, personally, I would rather help out someone who could really use the extra love.
My mom thought it would be a good idea, because who doesnt love to give, that we all make donations in each others name to the organization, foundation or cause of our choice.
This year I will be making my donations to the Friends of Andy Irons Trust Fund:
We all know how much of a special person Andy Irons was and how he touched our lives. He was a leader in our sport but most of all was a great friend that had a huge heart. Last week his wife Lyndie gave birth to their little boy. I know everyone is keen to help out so I wanted to let you all know that there has been a trust fund set up to help out Lyndie and the baby. Ok, so even though I am not supposed to be giving gifts….(Its so hard not too!) I will be gifting a few of my Alex & Ani bangle sets to some of the beautiful women in my life.
If you want to stoke out a lovely lady in your life, these are made of fully recycled material, making them super chic and eco friendly. I’ve been working with Zee Berry & Alex and Ani over the last 6 months designing this set of bangles that we named: The Good Path.
This set was inspired by the tattoo I got in Bali last year, written in Balinese it reads: “Find and follow the good path”.
There are 5 bangles total. 1 gold bangle with an emerald charm, and 1 silver bangle with the “Path of Life” charm, along with 1 plain gold bangle, and 2 plain silver bangles. The great thing about these bangles is they look great worn separately or stacked all together.
The Path of Life charm is emblematic of life’s zenith and nadir moments, this charm illustrates life’s twists, turns and unexpected winds, all the while complimenting the beauty in its pattern. The emerald charm, besides for being my birthstone(May), has been known to calm a troubled mind bringing the wearer reason and wisdom. A sacred stone of the goddess Venus, emerald is thought to preserve love and is a symbol of hope.

If you are planning on exchanging presents this year, my advice is to A.) Buy local: There are so many great items people are making right in your neighborhood. Gifts that are unique, come from the heart, and already have a lot of love and good energy built into them, while ultimately supporting your community and boosting the local economy. B.) Make something! Tis the season for arts & crafts! Christmas ornaments are a good idea, or cookie mix in an mason jar is always a fun one! C.) Donate to a charity, organization or cause of your choice. There are tons out there, if there is one calling your name, don’t hesitate! D.) Ebay! I recently started selling a ton of stuff on ebay, as I prepare to move into my dream beach house, which is way smaller than the place I am in now, and I couldn’t be happier about its cozy beachy abodeness. But seriously, there are some good deals on Ebay! If you are thinking about getting something for someone, see if you can find it on Ebay! Chances are it will be less than what you pay for if it was brand new, or you might find something even better! I have found so much good stuff on there that I had no idea existed! For instance, do you know how many girls out there buy super expensive purses brand new, only to sell them a couple months later? Now thats what I call a deal!!!! Recycling at its finest!
